We visit the submerged ancient city of Olous (mosaic floor - early Christian Basilica). You may take photos of the bay of Elounda, the Venetian channel, the windmills and the saltpans.
On our way to Cape Aforesmenos we will be overlooking the historic island of Spinalonga that initially was a Venetian (subsequently Ottoman) fortress - base and in the 20th century it served as a leper colony. It is the second most visited monument in Crete, second only to the Palace of Knossos and it has been nominated for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The visit to the island of Spinalonga is optional!
As we continue our journey, we come across traditional villages with kind-hearted people, a wind farm, folk museums and fortress-like monasteries. The view from above is stunning!
